Construction Worker in Serious Condition After Electrocution

Posted on Friday, February 20th, 2009 at 3:06 am

A Florida construction worker was seriously injured on Thursday, after being shocked by electrical wiring while drilling a well.  Authorities say the man was being lowered on a crane platform when the crane operator apparently failed to notice live electrical wires in its path.

Firefighters arriving on the scene said the worked sustained serious injuries.  He was transported by helicopter to an area hospital.  His identity has not yet been disclosed.

As a result of the accident, power company officials briefly shut off electricity in the immediate vicinity.  Aside from the electrocuted worker, there were no other reported injuries at the scene.

The risk of electrical shock is one of many dangers present on constructions sites.  If you or someone you know has been injured in a construction site accident, contact the Philadelphia workers' compensation lawyers of Lowenthal & Abrams, P.C. at 610-667-7511 for more information on your legal right to compensation.

One Construction Worker Killed, Another Injured in Forklift Accident

A Georgia construction worker was killed on Friday, following an accident involving a forklift.  Another worker was hospitalized when the two men fell from the forklift's extended platform at a height of 35 feet.

Construction worker James Shanks was pronounced dead on the scene, while worker Jay Smith was transported to the hospital with undisclosed injuries.  The men were working on the construction of a residence at the time of the incident.

Police officials say the men were applying stucco to a chimney while standing on the forklift platform.  Co-workers heard a popping noise as the forklift jerked and the men fell.
