Cab drivers in Philadelphia are fighting to get workers compensation if injured while working.
A long time cab driver in Philadelphia was robbed and stabbed in the back while on the job and then suffered a severe stroke. He is now wheelchair-bound and cannot speak. Now his wife is fighting to get her husband and all cab drivers who are injured on the job workers compensation.

Two Bridgeport construction workers were trapped when an avalanche of snow slid off of nearby buildings and fell onto a canopy under which the two were standing. One of the workers suffered from a broken leg in the accident. The workers were reportedly installing a compression station for distribution and storage of natural gas when the accident occurred.

A construction worker was injured when a high lift toppled over and pinned him to the ground while he was working on renovations at the Lower Merion High School. According to persons familiar with the incident, the lift was in the process of being moved to a different location when it fell over, injuring the worker below. The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that the man may have suffered a traumatic brain injury in an accident.

The Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania recently ruled that an employee's workers' compensation benefits may be suspended or denied by the insurer if the individual does not agree to go into a detox program if the individual has become addicted to prescription medication. The ruling allowed for benefit providers to require an individual to go into treatment even if the treatment program does not address the individual's medical condition directly or if it does not help the person return to health.
