Board: Lack of Transportation Not “Largely Irrelevent” in Workers Comp

A Pennsylvania workers compensation board has ruled in favor of a workers compensation recipient who was being denied workers compensation because distant work, for which he had no transportation, was theoretically available to him.
The worker testified that his household had only one car, which was used by his wife during regular daytime working hours, making it difficult for him to find work. The workers former employer filed a petition saying that a survey had found that work was available in the area, which a judge granted, saying that a lack of transportation to the job was "largely irrelevent." The workers compensation board disagreed with the judge, and granted the man workers compensation benefits.
