For some jobs, repetitive motion is common throughout the day. Certain types of jobs have a higher degree of possible injury based on the actual repetitive task being conducted.
For example, workers on a meat producer line will have to work with a sharp knife and trim the beef quickly and keep up with the pace of the assembly line. The repetitive nature of the work can cause stress in the arms and hands. More problems can arise because the repetitive nature of the work can lead to missteps and accidents. Many workers are hurt this way each year when they accidently cut into themselves with the sharp knives as a result of losing focus because of the constant repetitive motion.

A man has recently been charged following an accident in which the man struck a fire fighter. The fire fighter was responding to an accident in which he was helping to put out a small fire on the side of a road. The man attempted to flee the scene, but authorities apprehended him shortly.
This example shows the dangers that many workers put themselves in each day. In this case, the danger was being on the side of the road as other individuals drove near the emergency personnel.

Crane accidents occur for a variety of reasons. Cranes have to lift extremely heavy loads and raise these loads very high above the ground. This can put a tremendous amount of stress on the equipment during this process. In many cases, if a crane accident occurs, the crane was not properly maintained. Proper maintenance is important.
If a crane malfunction occurs, a serious accident can follow. The load that the crane is holding could fall to the ground, injuring those below. The crane itself could topple over landing on a building or near the work site potentially injuring workers. Because of this, crane safety must be a very high priority.

A construction worker who fell two stories while working onthe exterior wall of a building has been awarded $9.36 million by a Bronx jury. The week-long trial centered mostly around the worker’s injuries.
The presiding judge, Justice Alan Sarks, had previouslyfound that the developer and general contractors of the building wereresponsible for their failure to provide the workers with any fall protection,as is required by New York’s worker protection law. At the construction sitethere were no lifelines, safety harnesses, nets or any other protection toprevent workers from falling.
The accident occurred in March of 2006. The worker fracturednumerous bones in both feet as well as a knee. He required several surgeriesand doctors testified that he will eventually require a wheelchair.
According to a 2008 report by the National Institute ofOccupational Safety and Health, construction is the number one occupation inthe United States for number and rate of fatal occupational injuries.
