Falling Debris Injures Workers

Posted on September 28th, 2009 No Comments

Falling debris from a work site is responsible for a significant amount of worker injuries each year.  Objects falling from above can cause serious injury if it were to land on an individual below.  These types of accidents are typical for a construction site,  although they can occur at a variety of locations each year.

It is suggested that precautions be taken can help protect against falling debris.  Setting up a barrier is important at the ground level. It is important to setup some sort of barrier at the top to help prevent objects from falling off in the first place.

Explosions Injure Many Workers

Posted on September 9th, 2009 No Comments

A type of factory accident that results in serious injuries for workers each year is plant explosions.  Plant explosions are typically very sudden and cause serious injury and death to workers near the location of the explosion.  The blast damage of some plant explosions has been enough to bring down entire factories and buildings.

Typically,   the danger of plant explosions increases with whatever material or chemicals the plant is working with.  Certain environments are more susceptible to explosions than others,  and each factory needs to take a focus on safety for their particular situation. It is important for any company to take the appropriate steps to reduce the chance of a factory explosion,  because of the consequences of an explosion could be catastrophic.

Road Worker Killed in Accident

A road worker was recently killed in an accident shortly after finishing a road construction project.  The worker had just laid the new road and was putting the finishing touches on the project when the accident took place.

According to reports,  the worker was killed after another worker was operating a large truck.  The large truck backed up too fast and struck the worker.  The driver did not notice that he had struck the worker until it was too late.  Co-workers rushed to the man's aid,  but unfortunately he was already killed from the accident.

The accident is currently under investigation.   It is not known if the worker fell shortly before being struck or if he did not see the truck.
