Surprising Group of Philadelphia Workers Claims the Most Workers’ Comp Injuries

Posted on January 22nd, 2009 1 Comment

When you think of all of the potentially dangerous jobs out there, you might first think of the difficult conditions and situations that firefighters, policemen, and even construction workers are put in every single day. While these occupations undoubtedly place the workers at risk for a variety of injuries, they were not the group of workers who claimed the most in workers' compensation injuries over the last four years. Suprisingly enough, this group of workers is none other than the Philadelphia Parking Authority.

According to several sources, the Philadelphia Parking Authority is estimated to have collected around $5.8 million in workers' compensation injuries over the last four years, which is almost double the amount was collected by Philadelphia police officers.

Parking Authority workers do, in fact, have a rough job and are often required to preform tasks that can strain workers both physically and emotionally. However, the high number of injuries reported has caught the attention of the authority official responsible for processing the claims. He admits that the number seems unusally high and an investigation into the validity of the claims has been initiated.

If you've been injured at work, you may be eligible to file a workers' compensation claim. Contact the Philadelphia workers' compensation lawyers of Lowenthal & Abrams, P.C. at 610-667-7511 for more information.
