Tripping Over Cords
There are many ways to be hurt in the office, and tripping over cords can be an especially dangerous one. The setup of an office will go a long way toward determining how much danger there is of tripping over cords. Some of the power cords and cables used in technology today are quite thick and can be a significant hazard when they are left in high-traffic areas.
Given that nearly every desk in most offices has at least one computer on it, along with a phone, lamp, and maybe a clock or other electrical appliances, there are cords everywhere. Servers can have an especially high number of cords, along with routers, modems, and other technological equipment. It seems that there are now more cords in offices than ever, even as wireless technology is increasing.
Cords can pose a significant threat to people walking across and around them. Many cords are grouped together in large bundles that end up being quite large. They can easily cause a person to trip over them, which can cause all kinds of problems. Not only can the person be injured from the fall, but it is likely that tripping on the cord will pull a computer, phone, or other piece of technology off of a desk and break it.
