Burn Injuries
Burns are very serious injuries that can cause significant problems, permanent disfigurement, and even be fatal in some cases. Many people think that burns are caused only by fires, and many of them are, but they are certainly not the only way to obtain a burn injury.
Many workers are in danger of being burned on a daily basis. Many production methods require heating materials to an extreme temperature, perhaps through ovens, firing, or other means. Not only is the source of this heat dangerous, but the materials that come out of it are potentially hazardous as well.
In addition, many burns that are extremely painful and harmful are chemical burns. Many chemicals used in various production methods are extremely corrosive and can destroy the skin on contact. It is important to wear the proper safety equipment when dealing with these materials.
Many acids are used to refine metals and clean products, and these can cause serious burn injuries. Also, work facilities that have showers or other bathroom facilities can also be another source of burns. If there is no control on the hot water coming from the faucet, if there is no limit to how it can get, then workers could be in danger of serious burns from the bathroom.
