Bad Water
People need water to sustain their daily lives. Our bodies are made up of a huge percentage of water, and we can feel the effects of dehydration after a loss as small as 2 or 3%. Many workers perform their jobs in an environment that makes the need for water even greater, like outdoors in a hot climate or in insufficiently cooled warehouses or factories.
It is up to the employer to provide safe working conditions for their workers. In some cases, this can mean that they need to provide or at least provide access to clean drinking water. There are many places that surround rivers, lakes, and pools that contain water that is unsafe to drink. Many workers are employed in these areas and often work outdoors near these places. Clearly, they will need much water to drink throughout the day, and this must come from a source other than the undrinkable sources close to them.
In cases such as these, the employer must either warn the employees to bring their own water, or, preferably, provide them with an ample amount of clean drinking water. Dirty water can contain everything from parasites to viruses and bacteria that can be devastating, even fatal.
